Jamestown’s 2025 football season kicked off with its first game in August. Since then, varsity has had a total of nine games, with a tenth coming up on the 7th of November. As the season comes to an end, we interviewed a few players to express their thoughts on the team and upcoming games.

For junior Winston Miller (pictured above), this year has been a big improvement from the last. “We’ve been rebuilding ever since the new coach came in,†he explained, referring to Coach Riley, who came in last year, “we are doing better this year than we have in probably a decade.â€
Coach Riley seems to have had a beneficial influence all across the team. Jake Bracken, a freshman on the junior varsity team, told us that Coach Riley “actually cares about the safety of the players and not just the names,†and that the team is a lot more organized compared to his experience.
Senior varsity captains Brayden Strouse and Labron Henderson also agree with this notion, with Henderson expressing that “these past two years that he’s been here, there’s definitely been a better culture around the team…I feel like we can actually connect with each other.â€

As for their performance, “we’ve been a lot more focused,†Strouse said. “It seems like the players on the team care a lot more.†Again, with Coach Riley’s guidance, they seem to be improving and doing better every year.
They also explained their hopes for winning their game against York that night, on October 30th, which would hopefully send them to playoffs. “We’re favored to win this game, which is nice,†Strouse stated. “It’s not normally a Jamestown thing to be favored to wins,†he added.
Unfortunately, they fell short. With a loss of 42-21 last Thursday, they can only hope to pull a win out at their home game versus New Kent on Friday. Let’s cheer on and support our eagles!
