As Halloween fades and November rolls in, students at Jamestown are looking forward to one thing: Thanksgiving Break. For some it is just a few days of sleeping in and no schoolwork, but for many it is a chance to connect with their families and appreciate the traditions and people that make the season so special.

?Thanksgiving means being able to see what you have that others might not, while also recognizing the people that make your life special.? Shared Jamestown Junior, Lucas Miedema. ?I plan on spending the holidays with family and friends, most likely watching movies with hot chocolate or ice skating.? His words reflect the warmth that many associate with the season. But not every student has this experience. Many families live far away from each other, work during the holiday, or don?t celebrate in traditional ways. While everyone?s Thanksgivings may look a little different, it is important to remain grateful during this holiday season and give back to the community. Giving back can come in many forms, consider participating in a school food drive, volunteering, or just showing small acts of kindness.

?Thanksgiving is a time when I can reunite with my family.? Luke Walls, a senior at Jamestown shared. ?We all work together to cook the food, and that is what allows my family to bond. This Thanksgiving I?ll stay in Williamsburg and enjoy the time I spend with my relatives that I don?t get to see outside of family holidays,? For students like Luke, Thanksgiving is about togetherness and connection. Across the Jamestown campus, students find their own ways to celebrate the holiday. Some are surrounded by family, others spend it alone, and despite these differences in celebration, the season is a reminder to show gratitude within our school and be more understanding of one another.

In the end, what matters most isn?t the food or the traditions, but the chance to appreciate the people around us and the small moments that make this season meaningful.
